You Don’t Need To Feel Qualified To Start What God Has Called You To Do

So, we know Moses felt unqualified, cool! He felt unqualified and still moved the way God wanted him to. He protested the majority of the time, but he also still walked in obedience at the end of the day. I hope you don’t think you need to feel qualified just to get moving in life.

Moses said find someone else multiple times but at the end of the day he agreed to do what God told him to do. Even though he questioned even being qualified, he still moved. He still walked in obedience. God is pretty persistent when he knows that you are perfect for the job. The fleeting thought that keeps coming to your mind that you just know you should be doing, that’s God trying to get your attention. You can say you aren’t qualified like Moses all you want but you are the one who will do that activity God’s way. You will be used for God’s glory; you just first must take that step-in faith. Being obedient is the most difficult job to me.

I have wanted to write my whole life, but never followed through because I felt like I was way too young or inexperienced to give off any kind of wisdom. No way God could use someone that is young and has no idea who they are. I knew I needed to be writing something, whether it be a blog or a book, so we started here.

I know you probably feel like you need to be perfect, that you need to be in a better place in your life, that you can’t get started on anything until you are ready. I do not believe that we will ever feel fully ready to walk out on the limb with God but that is why it is called faith. Hebrews 11:1 says: “Faith shows the reality of what we hope for; it is the evidence of things we cannot see.” We don’t need to see the big picture to get going, we just need to start, right where you are at. Right there in your mess is where God can do some amazing miracles.

Moses constantly told God that He should choose someone else, but God knew it needed to be him. He knew that this imperfect person with self-doubt was the one that was going to help free the Israelites and became one of the greatest people in the bible. What is amazing to see that with each miracle shown in front of Moses, the more confident he became in his walk with God. The more Moses did for God, the more he grew in his identity in Christ. So, instead of protesting with God on what the next step was all he said was “yes I will do it.” He didn’t say it exactly like that, but Moses made sure to do what he was told to do. Moses didn’t know how to handle all these people in the wilderness, but God knew exactly what to do every time and that’s the point.

We don’t need to know everything. We don’t even have to be confident in our walk. We just have to start walking… We have to start where God wants us to start. The longer we walk the more our confidence will grow in ourselves and in God. The longer we walk, the more we will know. We not ever get the full picture, but we will start to realize why certain things happened in our lives. It is ok to be imperfect. It is ok to not be where you want to be. It is ok to not feel qualified for what God is telling you to do. All you have to do is walk in obedience and God will do the rest for you…

Some things to think about & journal if you are feeling spunky:

  • Have you been procrastinating starting a task because you don’t feel qualified for it?
  • What would it life look like if you started what God was telling you to do the first time?
  • What can you do today to begin your leap of faith? Reminder: it is ok if it is a baby step of faith.
