I know you know this verse, Jeremiah 29:11:
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
This has always been a verse that I stood on. When life decided to hand me an identity crisis at 18 and I couldn’t figure out what I wanted to do in life. Even going to get a master’s degree could help me with what I wanted to do in life. So, my next option, which should have been my first option, I turned to God and this verse just kind of hit me like a ton of bricks.
I was in no way reading the bible. I just started doing the reading plans on the bible app to get some kind of word into my spirit and this verse just fell right into my lap. I am aware that is a very well-known verse, but it was never one that I clinged to until now. I had no plan and not purpose when this verse found me and I swirling in a sea of depression. But when I say my eyes were open, I truly mean it. So, you mean to tell me that God has a plan a purpose for me?
We always want to have the next best thing, always feeling like we are never whole. Always wanting to know what our purpose is in life. When we are going through these motions in life, we always tend to feel less than. Figuring out who we are is never easy but figuring out who we are in Christ will make things easier.
Take that extra burden off your shoulders. I want you to read Jeremiah 29:11 over and over until it sinks in. When I was going through this identity crisis, God filled the space that was empty from losing everything I thought I wanted, and you know what He filled it with? The things I needed in my life to start fulfilling the purpose He had for me. He gave me something to look forward to when I woke up in the morning. He gave me new passions that I thought I could never have again. My mind had tricked me into thinking that if I ever had a passion in life again that it would just get taken away again but with God in charge, no man can shut the doors He is opening.
You are searching for a purpose in life, look to God. You are trying to figure out who you are, look to God. You are trying to fill a void in your life, look to God. The answer to all your questions on who you are supposed to be are right in front of you even though you cannot see it yet. God is going to fill that void in your life that you never thought would get filled. He is giving you a purpose that is bound to prosper because He is the one that gave it to you.
Put your trust in the one who is wanting to give you everything you need to prosper.
Somethings to think about & journal if you are feeling spunky:
- Write down Jeremiah 29:11 somewhere you can see it every day.
- Have you ever felt less than for not knowing you purpose in life?
- Are you going to finally give full control over to God so He can fill the void in your life?
