Aren’t You Tired of Being Stuck in The Wilderness?

I am just being honest here: this waiting season is not easy. It is difficult and it takes one of the biggest hits to your faith sometimes. Especially when you feel like you still don’t know what direction you feel like you are supposed to be going in. I am counting our waiting season as our “wilderness”.

The Israelites were in the wilderness for 40 years. FORTY! That is just a super long time to be waiting for the life you were promised. They didn’t receive their promise because God said it was going to take that long, nope. It should have only taken them 11 days to get the place they were promised. ELEVEN! Let that sink in.

The only reason they did not make it to their promise land in 11 days is because of their own faith or better yet, lack of faith. Is that why we are stuck in our own wilderness? I know we can swear up and down that our faith hasn’t be stirred and that we believe God is going to do some amazing things outside of this waiting season. You might mean some of that, but your heart might not fully be in it.

Now, I am here for transparency, I could tell you all day every day that this waiting season is nothing and I know God has a plan for all this waiting, which I do believe but man have I been doubting extra hard these last few weeks. I feel like I have been in a very stagnant place for the past 4 to 5 years. I feel like we move up a step in our faith every so often.

Small steps in faith are better than no steps in faith. Yes, doubt can come especially when we are in these waiting periods, but we must learn to rebuke those doubts. I am tired of being in my own wilderness. I want what God has promised us. Don’t you?

I will say it over and over: this walk isn’t easy, and we are going to have our doubts but let’s not stay in the wilderness for forty years, friends. We must learn from the Israelites. That’s why we have these stories to pull from, we are supposed to learn from them. Look at the unbelief, lack of faith and how they turned their back on God during those first few years and say, “no way am I going to be like the Israelites during that time.”

Let’s hit this waiting period head on and full of faith. If we have moments of doubt, I want you to go back to Exodus, Numbers and Deuteronomy and remember what happened to those who turned on their faith because they weren’t getting exactly what they wanted at the time. Decide right now that your wilderness will not last any longer. You are on training ground. You will not be stuck in your wilderness for 40 years. You will only be there for the amount of time God wanted you there for. Decide now because it will be harder to do later if you keep sitting in that doubt that God won’t follow through on His promises.

News flash: God will always follow through on His promises. It is us who don’t follow through on our part that gets us caught up in doubt.

Deuteronomy 1:30-31 NLT

“The Lord your God is going ahead of you. He will fight for you, just as you saw him do in Egypt. And you saw how the Lord your God cared for you all along the way as you traveled through the wilderness, just as a father cares for his child. Now he has brought you to this place.’”
